Everyone who bullet journals knows that there are certain pens, notebooks, and accessories that suit them best. Since so many people have asked, I thought the time was ripe for me to show you a little peek into my daily routine and all the awesome products I use to make my bullet journal (Not sure what that is? Click here!) as productive and organized as it can be. So let’s dive in!
I had never used one of these babies before this year, but I quickly became hooked. I will probably never use another journal brand this religiously for the rest of my life. They are excellent quality, reasonably priced, and come in a variety of colors. Plus, you can’t beat the built-in index or pre-numbered pages when you are using these for bullet journalling. What a match made in heaven!
I actually use two Leuchtturms every day. The berry one is my bullet journal, and the gold is for my Morning Pages (from The Artist’s Way). I write three pages of stream-of-consciousness every morning before I get started with my day. This helps me enormously in my planning process because it gets all that junk out of my head and allows me to focus on what problems I want to tackle today, what goals I can work on, and acknowledge issues I can’t deal with right now but want to remember for later. I find my Morning Pages to be an invaluable tool for getting motivated and charged up for quality work, and I would recommend this tactic for anyone who wants to have better focus in their workday.
I use it every day in my Morning Pages. I would use it more for my bullet journal, but I’m afraid of bringing it to work and having it get damaged or stolen. If you love writing, you should absolutely get one. They provide a feeling of luxury and seriousness to my writing, which makes me want to use it again and again.
These bad boys are a must for any bullet journal (in my opinion), but especially for the minimalist. They create a dark, bold line and allow you to have several thickness options for a wide range of uses. Plus, you can’t beat that price point.
I’ve only had these for a month and they have completely changed the way I bullet journal. The quality of the pens are excellent, and the color is so rich- even yellow! My ONLY complaint is the lack of purple in my 10 pen set. If you want purple, I would recommend getting the 20 pen set.
They say markers in the product title, but really….they’re pens, guys. But I love these, they are exactly the kind of quality you’d expect from such a heavyweight brand. I use the purple pen to fill my purple cravings when Staedtler can’t fulfill it. I also enjoy using the different browns and tans for a lovely sepia look. These are not necessary, really, but I feel incomplete without purple, so I keep it with me.
Remember how I said I’m afraid to take my nice pen to work? This is my workaround. I keep a black Inkjoy in my pocket at all times at work because I like the way it writes (and I’m pretty snobbish, so that’s saying something) and it won’t break my heart if I lose it. If you like bright colors, you could also get the Inkjoy color set. They are one of the smoothest cheap pens around, so it’s a great gateway pen to get you started in your bullet journal
These are another great option for regular pens that feel really nice. My mom had these all over the house growing up, so maybe there’s a bit of bias here. If you get a box of these, you’ll guard them jealously and use them for everything.
These are another tempting gateway pen that will get you hooked on fountain pens. If you have been curious about fountain pens but you’re afraid of getting one, buy this set instead. These disposable fountain pens will let you feel how neat it is to write with a fountain pen without the worry of cost. You can get the colorful set or the black set.
I use these all the time to lay out a format before inking it in. The erasers are just impeccable. If I didn’t have good pencils, my pages would be full of smudges and yucky marks, so these are a must.
My handy dandy Pokemon ruler is small enough to slip in my purse and used almost daily. Since you can’t have mine, I suggest you get a nice metal one. That way it won’t get so dinged up if you tote it around with you. When my little Pokemon one goes, I will be buying a metal one for sure.

13. My Handwriting Journal
I use my little handmade (by yours truly) leather journal to practice my handwriting. Specifically, I use it for my #Rockyourhandwriting challenge on Instagram. I like keeping it separate from my daily plans to keep things cleaner, but you certainly don’t need to do this. If you are interested in improving your handwriting, I would suggest you head on over to the RockYourHandwriting Facebook page and join the challenge!
I use this little fella for my long term collections that I don’t want to repeatedly update as I switch bullet journals. There’s not much in there now, but I’m sure it will grow as I grow. It’s just nice not having to regularly reference an old closed out bullet journal. I keep this lil guy tucked away in the back pocket of my Leuchtturm.
I rely on all of these tools to see me through a day of planning. My variety of pens might seem a little excessive, but being able to change up the color, thickness, or smoothness of the ink keeps me from getting bored and forgetting to update my bullet journal. I have never been as organized or productive with my time as when I’m using my wide array of pens, markers, and journals. It might all seem crazy, but it works for me! What do you use for your bullet journal on a day-to-day basis?
