It’s Been a Good Year for Bullet Journaling
The bullet journal has seen quite a surge in popularity in the past few years, and 2017 is no different. As more and more people come into this incredible online community, more ideas and perspectives get added to the mix. The result is a whole lot of creativity, innovation, and awesomeness. It’s hard not to get inspired by all the incredible work in the bullet journal community! I got to create a lot of fun stuff in my bullet journal, so I want to share some my favorite bullet journal spreads of 2017.
Bullet Journal Spreads that Rocked
Bullet Journal Hacks
This isn’t one spread specifically, but rather a whole collection of hacks that are super useful! I especially loved the Dutch door in this post. Trying out all these hacks was so much fun! This post is probably one of my favorite posts that I created for all of 2017.
The List of 100
I’ve always been a list maker, but the List of 100 takes everything to the next level. This technique is tremendous for me when I am struggling with stress or too many ideas because it forces me to drain the pressure into a list. It’s also incredible for brainstorming because it pushes past your barriers and helps you uncover new thought patterns and ideas. I love this technique, and I’m so happy that I turned it into a bullet journal spread for ease of use!
The Affirmation Log
Negative self-talk is something I have always struggled with, so I am so proud of myself for committing to a better inner dialogue with this affirmation log. It has been a positive step towards better mental health and self-care.
2017 was the year that I embraced the weekly spread over the daily spread, which was a long time coming. I had an opportunity to research and create some incredibly weekly bullet journal spreads that totally changed the game for me. If you want to try weeklies, check this one out!
My September Monthly Spread
While the actual spread layout isn’t much different from my typical monthly spread, I particularly enjoyed how September turned out. I had a blast drawing and painting these foxes, and it led to a significant surge in creativity that resulted in my watercolor planner project A Month in Color. I’ll look back on this bullet journal spread fondly!

The Mind Map
If you haven’t noticed, I’m all about brainstorming. I love finding new and interesting ways to drag ideas out of the abstract realm of the mind onto paper. That’s why the mind map is one of my top picks for bullet journal spreads for 2017! This visually stunning way to brainstorm is as fun as it is effective.
The Brain Dump
The brain dump is a spread that I had done long ago, but then pretty much forgot about it entirely. That is, until a few weeks ago when I dusted it back off. Now I gotta say that it’s one of my favorite bullet journal spreads that I had the pleasure of creating for the whole year!
What Will 2018 Bring?
It’s been so satisfying to watch my planning system develop over the course of 2017, and it’s been fantastic watching this community grow. Seeing people bring fresh ideas to the table and make the system work perfectly for their lives has been amazing to witness. I can’t wait to see the creative ideas and bullet journal spreads that will manifest in 2018!
